The Browns rolled through the Eagles for a 22-17 Week 11 win that improved their record to 7-3, their best record after 10 games since 1994, and pushed them a step further in their push to the playoffs. The offense used big — and, at times, hurdle-filled — runs from their running backs to find the end zone. And even though the Browns were without defensive end Myles Garrett, the defense still made punishing plays against the Eagles’ offense.

Here are the plays that mattered most in the win:

Olivier Vernon shines with Cheap Myles Garrett Jersey sidelined, leads Browns to dominant defensive display
Cheap Sione Takitaki Jersey jump-starts Browns with biggest play of his career
Browns D rises to the challenge to down Eagles
By the Numbers: Nick Chubb hits 3,000 career rushing yards in style
Cheap Baker Mayfield Jersey: “We have the best backfield in the league”
Kevin Stefanski: “Really thought the defense set the tempo in that game”
1. Browns force red-zone takeaway on first Eagles’ drive

Cleveland was without two of its top defensive playmakers when the Eagles entered the red zone on their first drive of the game.

Garrett, who entered Sunday with the NFL lead with 9.5 sacks and was tied for the lead with four forced fumbles, was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday. Safety Cheap Ronnie Harrison Jersey, who was on the field for every defensive snap in Week 10, exited the field earlier in the drive to get looked at by the medical staff.

But the absences of two top players didn’t stop the defense from halting an early threat from Philadelphia. Running back Miles Sanders lost his grip on the ball as he moved through the trenches at Cleveland’s 5-yard line. Safety Cheap Karl Joseph Jersey, who entered in relief of Harrison, pounced on the ball and sealed the turnover.

That was only the start of a massive day from the defense.

2. Sione Takitaki seals first career pick-six

The Browns defense re-invigorated their turnover abilities Sunday in quick fashion.

When quarterback Carson Wentz, who led the NFL with 12 interceptions entering Week 11, dropped back for a second-and-7 from Cleveland’s 46-yard line, he didn’t see cornerback Denzel Ward bringing pressure. Ward got a piece of Wentz’s throwing arm, and the ball sailed high in the air.

Takitaki was in the area and had plenty of time to make the catch and sprint to the end zone. He dropped to his knees and held out his arms once he crossed the goal line and celebrated with teammates to cap off the biggest play of his NFL career.

The Browns were up 7-0, and the defense was eating into the Eagles’ offense early.

3. Mayfield fumbles, Eagles recover in the red zone

The Browns’ first drive of the second half took a quick and unfortunate turn on second-and-8 from Cleveland’s 30-yard line.

As Mayfield maneuvered through the pocket for a pass attempt, Pro Bowl DT Fletcher Cox swatted his hand at the football, which slipped away from Mayfield’s grasp and fell backwards into an empty backfield. No Browns players saw the fumble — the ball was behind all of them — which made it easy for Eagles linebacker Alex Singleton to pounce on it at the 19-yard line.

The Eagles quickly turned the takeaway into points and threw a touchdown on the next play to even the score at 7-7.

4. Vernon sacks Wentz in the end zone for a safety

The Browns defensive line thrived without its best player against the Eagles’ offense.

Even though Garrett wasn’t on the field with them, each player from the defensive line had bright moments Sunday. None was bigger than Cheap Olivier Vernon Jersey game-changing play in the third quarter.

Vernon recorded his third sack of the game when he sacked Wentz into the end zone grass for a safety that put the Browns up 12-7. Vernon, as well as Cheap Larry Ogunjobi Jersey, Cheap Sheldon Richardson Jersey and Cheap Adrian Clayborn Jersey, all stepped up with big games to fill the void from Garrett. Vernon, meanwhile, recorded the most sacks by a Browns player since Garrett in Week 2 of last season.

5. Hunt flies over defender for second TD

Cheap Kareem Hunt Jersey took flight with 9 minutes left in the fourth quarter — literally.

Hunt appeared to run on air as he hurdled over Jalen Mills to reach the pylon for a 5-yard touchdown run that put the Browns up 19-10 after a successful PAT. He originally broke a tackle from a defender in the backfield before he turned the corner and prepared his leap, and he landed in the end zone when both feet finally returned to the ground.

The unbelievable play followed another special run from another Browns running back. Cheap Nick Chubb Jersey broke free for a 54-yard run just two plays earlier, and his big play also featured a few broken tackles and shifty jukes.

Cleveland has turned to its run game to seal wins all season. That plan worked again Sunday.

6. Ward intercepts Wentz to finish the win

A full four-quarter effort from the defense was capped off in grand fashion from “The Warden.”

On the play directly after he was called for pass interference, cornerback Cheap Denzel Ward Jersey leaped and grabbed a high pass attempt intended for wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. The Eagles were threatening at Cleveland’s 10-yard line for a late-game touchdown that would’ve brought the score to within one possession, but Ward capitalized on the errant pass for the Browns’ second interception and third turnover of the afternoon.

The Eagles received the ball back with just over a minute left and scored a touchdown, which made Ward’s red-zone interception even more important to secure the win.

As coach Kevin Stefanski sat down for his video call with local reporters and began his opening statement following the Browns’ win over the Houston Texans, he knew who he needed to give plenty of credit to first.

Plenty of units and players were worthy of praise following the 10-7 win, which was played under rainy, gusty wind conditions that forced a 35-minute delay before kickoff, but one Browns group was never rattled no matter the circumstances: the defense.

The Browns certainly would’ve had a tougher time finding a win without the defense’s high level of play against one of the most potent offenses in the NFL. The Texans boasted plenty of weapons capable of making big plays, but in the end, they were held to seven points.

Stefanski needed to thank them first.

“For our defense to play and hold them the way we did … It was not going to be easy,” Stefanski said. “I thought our defense did a really nice job today and forced some punts.”

As the Browns prepped throughout the week, players and coaches offered plenty of praise toward quarterback Deshaun Watson, who’s emerged as one of the league’s most dynamic players in his four NFL seasons and mixes tremendous arm strength and accuracy with an elite ability to maneuver in the pocket, escape sacks and make big throws.

Watson was the biggest reason why the Texans entered Cleveland with the sixth-best passing offense in the NFL. His pairing with receivers Will Fuller and Brandin Cooks, among other targets, gave the Texans one of the most explosive units in the league.

But the Browns were certainly up for the challenge. Houston was limited to only 243 total yards Sunday, and the Browns held Watson and his deep group of receivers to a season-low 153 passing yards. The Texans went 7-for-14 on third downs, and the hype about their explosive playmaking abilities rarely shined against the Browns’ heavy pass rush and steady play from the secondary.

“We had a lot of good blitzes, and we were able to get some pressure on (Watson) and caused him to throw some errant balls,” defensive end Cheap Myles Garrett Jersey said. “It’s a testament to great play-calling and guys just rushing the passer well.”

Garrett made arguably the biggest defensive play of the game in the second quarter.

The defense’s energy level was low after the Texans had used 13 plays to drive 69 yards to the Browns’ 2-yard line, but the Browns stepped up to make a stop on third-and-goal and force Houston to make a game-changing decision.

The Texans were going to go for it. So the Browns defenders huddled closely at the line of scrimmage and awaited the snap. When Watson received the ball, Garrett already had a clear path to make a tackle. Watson had nowhere to go, and Garrett wrapped his arms around his waist and thrusted him backward for a loss of 2 yards.

Browns ball.

And most importantly, the zero points remained in the Texans’ column of the scoreboard. The Browns jubilantly leaped off the field to celebrate, and any scoring result on the play would’ve made a major impact on the game’s final results.

“I knew they weren’t going to drop back and pass with such a dynamic quarterback like Deshaun,” Garrett said. “I just took two steps and tried to bait him upfield, and I knew he was going to try to run behind me, so I just took it.”

The Browns defense has plenty of other reasons to celebrate, too. After allowing 30 or more points in five games so far this season, the unit has allowed just 23 combined points in its last two games. Sure, both games contained windy, rainy and, at times, hail-like conditions that affected offensive game plans and trajectories of the football when it was in the air, but the Browns have always wanted to use those conditions to their advantage.

On Sunday, the defense certainly did that, and more. The Texans rushing attack was limited to 90 yards, and Houston didn’t even score its first touchdown until the 55th minute.

One more interesting fact: The Browns didn’t force a turnover Sunday. That’s important to note because in each of Cleveland’s five wins this season, the defense forced at least one turnover that almost always proved crucial to the final result. The Browns were previously 0-2 in games without a turnover.

“We are always going to be looking to take the ball away, and then there are moments where they do not present themselves or the offense does a great job,” Stefanski said. “Credit to them in that we were not able to get one, but the ability to get off the field on third and fourth down is just so big.”

The Texans will likely stand as one of the best offenses the Browns will face all season, but the defense didn’t flinch. They shut down a Pro Bowl quarterback and have played their best football in the last two games.

Stefanski knows the unit is truly starting to click. The Browns will certainly attempt to keep that going as they look to compete for a playoff spot, and they deserve ample praise after Sunday’s dominant display.

Stefanski made sure to give it to them.

“They battled,” Stefanski said. “I thought our defense really, really strained today.”

CLEVELAND — The Lake Erie weather hampered the Cheap Cleveland Browns Jerseys offense. And an injury to Cheap Myles Garrett Jersey defanged its defense.

Battling 35 mph winds, along with rain and sleet, the Browns failed to punch the ball into the end zone a week after losing Odell Beckham Jr. to a season-ending knee injury.

And with Garrett struggling with his own ankle injury, effectively reducing him to a third-down pass-rushing specialist, the Browns’ defense couldn’t get off the field, either.

As a result, the Las Vegas Raiders controlled the line of scrimmage, the time of possession and the game overall on the way to a 16-6 victory at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Raiders grinded out 22 first downs, scoring points on their final four drives, while holding on to the ball for more than 37 minutes, compared to Cleveland’s 22.

Garrett, who was limited all week in practice and even went into the injury tent in the second quarter, tried to play. But after limping around throughout the first half, the Browns tried to save him for key downs. Garrett, who entered the weekend leading the NFL with nine sacks, finished the game without a sack for the first time since Week 1. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said postgame that Garrett will get an MRI for a knee injury.

Offensively, Browns receivers dropped five of Cheap Baker Mayfield Jersey passes — the most drops by Cleveland since Week 6 of the 2018 season. The Browns also produced just 92 yards in the first half, their fewest in a first half since 2018, as well.

Pivotal play: Cheap Jarvis Landry Jersey appeared to haul in a 20-yard touchdown from Mayfield down the sidelines. But the catch, which Landry bobbled on the way down, was overturned, forcing Cleveland to settle for another field goal.

Describe the game in two words: Stodgy slog. The Browns had few plays offensively of note, while the Raiders did their damage keeping drives alive by going 10 of 16 on third and fourth down.

Silver lining: With several of Cleveland’s stars ailing, including Garrett, Mayfield (ribs), Landry (ribs), tight end Cheap Austin Hooper Jersey (who didn’t play for the second straight week due to an appendectomy) and running back Nick Chubb (out since Week 4 with a knee injury), the bye couldn’t come at a better time for the Browns.
